Lancaster, Pennsylvania – September 18, 2018 — Cargas Systems’ Cargas Energy Summit brought 350 attendees to the Lancaster Convention Center last week on September 13 and 14. The annual event gives Cargas Energy customers and partners the opportunity to participate in educational sessions, learn best practices, get a glimpse of upcoming features and enhancements, and connect with one another.

A Year of Milestones

This year marked several significant milestones, as the 10th year for the Summit event itself and Cargas’ 30th year in business. The company’s history played a key role in the Summit’s keynote address, with a focus on transformation.

Delivered by VP Aaron Cargas, the presentation shared some highlights from the company’s past as it grew from a one-man startup, weathered the burst of the dot-com bubble, and launched and grew Cargas Energy

The story is a familiar one for companies in the energy industry, who have continuously reinvented themselves as new energy products entered the market and new generations stepped into leadership roles. Rhoads Energy, for example, started selling kerosene out of a rail car in 1917. More than 100 years later, the company now offers heating oil, natural gas, and propane, as well as HVAC and fleet fueling services.

“Companies that are built to last are built to change,” said Cargas.

But it’s not just about change, he explained, it’s about maintaining a balance between innovation and tradition.

“It’s essential to stay true to your company’s core values, purpose, and culture in the midst of the experimentation and diversification necessary for forward progress,” said Cargas.

And it’s an ongoing process.

A Year of Change

To drive the point home, Cargas described recent initiatives undertaken by the Cargas Energy business unit in response to its growing and changing customer base. During the past year, 25 new staff members have been added, new teams have been formed, and new technology and processes have been introduced, with a primary focus on the customer experience and Cargas Energy’s user community.

The presentation also unveiled some upcoming features in the Cargas Energy product itself.

“As you transform yourselves, we are transforming ourselves,” Cargas told attendees.

“Whether they’ve been with us for 10 years or 10 months, we want each customer to know that we are committed to their success. We are continuously striving to improve so we can offer our customers the best product on the market, supported by the best team, processes, and technology.”

With another year of record attendance at the Summit, the Cargas team is excited about the future and looks forward to celebrating more transformations and milestones in the years to come.
